Certification. 1. The panel of judges or jurors will award marks for the different aspects determining the quality of the models and will establish three quality levels: Gold, Silver and Bronze. Items within a class which reach a level’s minimum score will receive the corresponding award. Similarly, those works in which, without attaining any of the certificate levels indicated above, the panel of judges wishes to reward effort, originality or any other parameter at the judges’ discretion, will receive a High Commended. 2. Within each class as many Gold, Silver and Bronze awards and High Commendeds will be awarded as there are modellers who have succeeded in attaining the required minimum scores with their works. 3. Similarly, if in any class the scores obtained by the models fail to attain the minimum score set by the panel of judges, the corresponding award will not be awarded. 4. Each modeller may only be a candidate for one award per class. 5. From all the works awarded the prize of a gold award within their respective categories, the panel of judges will apply objective criteria to determine which of the items stands out above the rest and deserves the Special Prize for the best work in the category. 6. The Special Prize will not be awarded if no Gold award has been earned in any of the classes in the category. 7. A Special “Association Trophy” Prize is established for the best item in the competition. 8. A Special Prize is established for the best Painted Commemorative Figure from previous editions of the Almería show, as specified in the attached Appendix.
Appendices. 1. Members of the organizing council of ALMERÍA 2008 are excluded from the competition. 2. In Categories A (Aviation) and M (Military vehicles) the presence of figures will be allowed on board the vehicles and aircraft, providing that these form part of the crew. They will not be taken into account for the valuation of the item. 3. Models representing either vehicles or aircraft in a situation of destruction or severe deterioration will be included in Category E (Scenarios). 4. Commercial models are deemed to be those basically coming from commercial kits in plastic (injection moulding) and enhancements to improve quality or correct defects are allowed with complementary items in photo-etched, resin, metal, acetate, etc. 5. Transformed models are deemed to be those basically coming originally from commercial kits in plastic but which, regardless of the improvements and modifications included in Appendix 4, have undergone substantial modifications in order to obtain a version that is different from the original kit. The alterations must have been made by the modeller personally and may not come from the addition of commercial kits, including commercial kits in vacuum-formed plastic, resin, metal, etc. 6. Home-made or scratch models are deemed to be those in which the basic elements comprising the model have been produced by the modeller from sundry materials. The use of elements from commercial kits is allowed as the origin of less important secondary parts (wheels, propellers, chains, landing gear...). 7. In Category M / Military Vehicles, the presentation of the vehicle in a terrain as a backdrop and to understand the setting in which the vehicle itself is located will be allowed; if this decoration comprises elements, such as constructions, or considerable remnants thereof, or more than one figure which is not a member of the crew, etc., then the work should be entered into Category E / Scenarios. 8. Whatever the class in which modellers compete, they must specify in writing the make and model of the kit, basic parts and/or complementary items used. In addition, it is recommended that they indicate their personal contributions and, if possible, bibliographical references to assist the panel of judges. 9. The determining factor for the scoring of the items submitted will be their fidelity in terms of shape, details and paintwork with respect to the real original for the scale reproduction. 10. The Organizers shall have the power to include any item in a class other than that for which it was presented. 11. The Organizers may disqualify and withdraw from the exhibition any item considered offensive or contrary to good taste. 12. If they consider it appropriate, the Organizers may decide to withhold the prize for certain categories, classes or awards.
